Life, Lately
Hi everyone! I realize I have been absent on social media, and this blog especially, for the last several months. There is really no excuse other than I have been juggling career stuff, and I spend most of my free time with my adorable 8 month old niece, Avery. I fully intend to get back in the swing of things, create a blog schedule, and post frequently.
In the last year I have had some frustrating moments in my career. During that time I lost a lot of creativity, and was feeling extremely discouraged. I left my full-time job with great insurance and no financial worries to start my private practice and blog. That went really well in the beginning, but after about six months, I wasn't progressing in my business like I wanted to or needed, so I decided to look for something part-time.
I accepted a part-time position as the dietitian for a cardiac rehab program, but things have not gone as planned, and I still don't feel like I have the financial freedom I once had. However, I am hopeful that this situation will work out like it is supposed to, and I'll be able to breathe a little easier. Y'all, let me just tell you, it's been a struggle. You don't think about how important insurance is when you have it and don't have to pay for it! I guess I've learned the hard way, but I wouldn't take back starting my private practice. At this point, I just need to get back on track.
I've seen many other RDs who seem so successful and like they've got it all together, and I really hope I can get to this point in the near future. I'll be the first to admit, while being your own boss does have its perks, it can be a very lonely journey. Going from working with several other dietitians, to being by myself takes some getting used to. Now, I have a balance; when I'm at cardiac rehab, I'm surrounded by people, and then back to being with yours truly the other three days of the week.
I don't want this post to seem whiny, I just want to be honest. Even though this has been a major adjustment, with its up and downs, I'm confident that I will find my rhythm, and will be successful in both areas of my career. I hope everyone is enjoying their October so far (even though it still feels like summer here in MS)! Please feel free to reach out with any nutrition questions or topics you would like to see on the blog.
Have a great day!
Brianna
